Since we first announced the Jolicloud project, we have received a lot of requests from people around the world who wanted to get involved and try the product.
Building an Internet operating system is quite a big task as you imagine.
At Jolicloud, we are focused on providing the best experience possible for the user. For that we are using the best technology available from the open source and free software community, but also from the Open Web.
In a couple of days, we will start sending invitations for the alpha program. As it is just the beginning, we are still fixing some bugs and adjusting our servers, so it may take a bit of time before you get your own invitation.
In this introduction post, we wanted to thank all the projects that made Jolicloud possible:
- Ubuntu, GNU/Linux, Ubuntu Netbook Remix and Kernel.org – the basis of the OS.
- Mozilla Prism – the tool helping us to provide a seamless integration between web applications and the desktop.
- Ruby on Rails, MySQL, jQuery and Movial’s D-Bus Bridge – the gears powering the cloud-living Jolicloud application.
- Git and Trac – the open source versioning system and bug tracker.
We also wanted to thank everyone for their support. Since yesterday’s TechCrunch story, we have received a lot of amazing feedback. We know that you are as much excited to try out the new alpha as we are happy to unleash our work.
Here is below the Jolicloud badge that you can put on your website or blog:
Don’t worry, everyone who did register will receive shortly an invitation in the order that they subscribed! As we are moving to our production infrastructure, we will make sure at first that we get a great quality of service before starting inviting more people.
This blog will be with our Twitter (@jolicloud) our main way to communicate news. For the support, we have setup a GetSatisfaction, and for real-time support, we have set up a dedicated Twitter: @jolisupport.
